To map a system we observe it. We see it as something outside ourselves. To feel a system we sense it. We have to connect with it...literally merge ourselves with it.
We can't sense a system through activity (doing.) To sense a system we have to stop doing and unite with the system as it is. We aim to do nothing...to literally merge with the system and let it move through us.
See Marc's [[Begin from Nothing]].
Time after time, horses remind me of the fundamental need to do nothing, to be as light as possible, to unite with a system.
Here are some related quotes from my book [[Riding Dynamics]]:- "What we are aiming for here is an easy equilibrium in our newly formed horse and rider system. It is a quiet, effortless place where horse and rider have achieved a sustainable balance. Neither horse nor rider are affecting each other negatively or positively. We are “doing nothing”."
"It is my belief that each time we get on our horse we have to (a) re-establish the connections and (b) get to the point of “doing nothing” with ease, before we can start to “do something”."
The interesting thing is that I know I am already in that system but somehow I am "holding" myself separate from it. And separate from the other observers in the system...
What if I collapse the separation?
How do I collapse the separation?
Remember that separation is a myth...a narrative I was taught. As I dissolve the myth, I dissolve the boundary. It is an easing into, a letting go, there is no doing, and no thinking. I am paying 100% attention to "nothing"...surrendering myself to the other, to the system.
See [[Take Any Two]].
In [[Floating in Systems]] I explore the possibility of uniting with water.
In [[Riding Dynamics]] I explored the potential for uniting with a horse.
What is the potential for uniting with another human being?
Therein lies the potential to unite humanity...just imagine that!
