Updating my approach to window management and Emacs

I love [[Guake]]. I do most of my general OS management via the command line, so the immediate access to a terminal via a heads-up display, overlayed over other windows, whatever virtual desktop you're currently in, is great. Then quick switching between tabs within Guake - all makes for lightning quick access to your important stuff.

I liked it so much so that I started running various instances of terminal Emacs within Guake. When I'm at work, I use org-mode and org-roam constantly, for task management and project notes respectively. So to have immediate access to them via Guake was perfect.

I was quite happy with it for a while. However, a few niggles started to arise. For example - not being able to view images inline. I occassionally use PlantUml to generate diagrams and it was a pain not to be able to see them inline. Lack of variable pitch fonts.

So - I'm seeing if I can recreate that super quick access to what I need in Emacs, but via a combo of my window manager and Emacs' built in window management.

To be expanded upon, but so far basically:

• wmctrl to run or raise Emacs via a shortcut via the window manager
• Spacemacs layouts to switch between org-mode and org-roam workspaces
