# Archaea

- Different from [[bacteria]] in the generation of the cell membrane
- All prokaryotic
- More closely related to [[eukarya]] than [[bacteria]]
- Newer findings imply that [[Lokiarchaeota]] are closer than the
[[tack-supergroup|TACK Supergroup]] to [[eukarya]]
- Vast majority are non-extremophile
