The Confederados were a contingent of soldiers from the [[file:20210419112422-confederate_states_of_america.org][Confederate States of
America]] who emigrated to [[file:20210419112435-brazil.org][Brazil]] after the end of the Civil War. They sought to
recreate the life that they had for themselves in the south of the United
States. Slavery was still legal in Brazil at the time.
